Cherry Creek Schools has only two schools scheduled to build in the next several years and Copperleaf is host to one. "The entire process is very unique and participatory," says Angela McCain of Cherry Creek School District (CCSD), "we like to involve the entire community and student population in the naming and development of all our schools."

Once school boundaries are determined, the public process to name and theme the school will begin. The process will be announced on the CCSD website (www.ccsd.k12.co.us) as well as through local school notices. The CCSD Facility Planning Committee will facilitate the planning process. But overall, the naming of the school, choosing an overall theme and mascot will be decided by the principal, the students and the community in the year prior to opening.

Before school construction commences, there are a lot of preparations to be made within the Copperleaf community. Radcliff Parkway will be extended as will Copperleaf Boulevard and infrastructure will begin to take shape in the next year. The location of the new school will be on East Radcliff Parkway and Tibet Street. "We hope to have an overview graphic of the school sometime soon and will provide that on our website. This always gets everyone eager for more," says McCain, "Copperleaf is a perfect location for growing young families and we are happy to bring more schools to the area."
